Mel & Tim - Keep The Faith. Mel & Tim is comprised of two cousins from a small town in Mississippi. Like most pop groups that started their foray into music during the late 1960s, the duo began their career through doowop. Having multiple hits over the years, often charting top 5 in the R’n’B charts, Mel & Tim migrated over several genres, eventually settling down into heavy ballad style soul. “Keep The Faith,” which comes from their 1973 self-titled album, is something of a forgotten classic. The introduction is perhaps the most well remembered portion of the song, being sampled by numerous acts including Jay-Z, but despite its unique inner city blues feel, it is by no means the highlight of the song. It is difficult to describe the mood in words, but I’m fairly certain everyone will feel something after listening, religious and nonreligious alike.
