The Miracles - Give Me Just Another Day. Today’s selection comes from one of my all-time favorite records, Do It Baby by The Miracles. After the departure of the 6-year veteran Smokey Robinson, the remaining members, with the addition of Billy Griffin, underwent a dramatic reinvention. The record, written by a who’s who of soul composers, features a greater emphasis on melody and driving thematic elements. Never losing the old Miracles touch, however, “Give Me Just Another Day” (penned by bad boy Leon Ware) comes down as a momentous achievement in the group’s vast discography.

The Miracles have also recently hit their 50-year milestone. Though most of the original members are noticeably absent, they continue the tradition of penning amazing music, keeping the torch lit and the music alive.
